Challenge No.14 - Winner & Top 3

I must apologise for the lateness of this post.  I have been extremely busy of late and tiredness has very much caught up with me.  Before I go on, I'd like to thank our sponsor, Prairie Fairy, once again for her fantastic support.  Please pop over to her shop and have a look around.

As usual, I have used Random.org to pick the winner which is,

Susan.  Congratulations, Susan, please take a look around Prairie Fairy's shop and let me have your 5 image choices.  You can email me on cardsformen@donnasden.co.uk.

The top 3 was soooooo difficult this time.  I find all Christmas cards appealing and the other 'judges' said it was hard too.

Well done to you all.  Please grab the 'Top 3' badge from the sidebar and add it to your own.

Finally, don't forget to have a go at the current challenge where the prize is a £10 gift voucher to spend at One Stop Card Crafts.

Challenge No 15 - A recipe for you

Wow, what a great set of Christmas cards we had from you all.  Before I go on, I want to thank Prairie Fairy for being such a great sponsor.  We always have such a great time using their images.  I'll be back later with the winner and top 3 for you.

On to this fortnight's challenge which is a recipe.  We want to see the following items on your cards:

1 image
2 papers
3 embellishments

That's the only requirements which should give you plenty of scope.  Our sponsor for this challenge is the wonderful One Stop Card Craft who are offering a £10 voucher to spend in their shop as the prize.  Please take a look over there as Shelley has some wonderful stuff.  You may be able to get something to help with the challenge as well.  If you do venture over, Shelley is offering all Cards For Men customers a 10% discount for the duration of our challenge.  All you need to do is quote the reference CFM2010 to get your discount.

Here's what Shelley had to say about One Stop Card Craft when I asked.

"At One Stop Card Crafts we have a big range of ever changing discount card making and cardmaking craft supplies. We are always adding to our range of craft supplies which are ideal for making handmade greeting cards, do-it-yourself invitations scrapbook pages, altered items and much more.  Our card making craft supplies include free UK postage* and our popular discount scheme and quick service means our customers keep coming back for more.  Our prices are very competitive and this makes us an ideal place to buy your cardmaking supplies online."

This week see's the first challenge for our new members, Alison, Kitty, Sarah and Mandy, so we now have double the inspiration for you.

Morty Fishing

1. The card must be for a man/boy.
2. You need to follow the theme/sketch that is set.

3. It must be a new card.

DT Call Winners and another member

Wow what wonderful entries we had for the recent DT call.  You always make these choices so hard.  Normally, I email the winners in advance of posting the results (to make sure they're still interested) but this time I couldn't find email addresses so lets hope you're looking, lol.

The winners are

Please email me on cardsformen@donnasden.co.uk to sort out any all the details.

Before I decided to put out a DT call, I asked the current team members to suggest people they thought might like to join our team which is how we came to get Kym.  The other suggestion I had was Mandy who I'm delighted to announce has agreed to join us as of now.

So there you have it, thanks again to everyone who expressed an interest.  I wish we could take you all.

Challenge No 14 - Christmas in July

First of all, thanks to everyone who joined us this week with our sketch.  I've had a frantic couple of weeks and I'm sorry to those of you I haven't had chance to visit.  This fortnight's challenge is sponsored by the very wonderful Prairie Fairy who kindly sent us some images to work with.

The theme this week is Christmas so let's get all festive.  I bet most of you out there have already started thinking about Christmas cards, lol.  The prize from Roberta is 5 free images of your choice and here's what Roberta had to say about herself

Hello! I am Roberta from Prairie Fairy Designs. I am a new digital stamp company featuring artwork not only created by me but also my two kids, ages 8 and 11. They are featured on the site as the Fairy Princess and the Prairie Prince.

I have been an artist for as long as I can remember and have always loved to create.  Two years ago my sister-in-law invited me to a rubber stamp party. I laughed and said "Maybe I will buy something if I can use it to stamp on canvases.". Needless to say, I was hooked! Two years later and a lot of learning about computers, I have finally accomplished my goal.

While digital stamping is relatively new in the papercrafting scene, it is what I believe to be such an amazing tool. Printed images have such clarity and vibrancy and gone is the need to re stamp an image because you didn't press hard enough or maybe you pressed too hard! They are also a lot easier to store and they can be reprinted over and over again. The fact that you can rotate and flip files, print them off the size of a postage stamp or as large as a scrapbook page makes them such a versatile medium. It is my sincere hope that I can help anyone who has hesitations about using digital images to embrace these amazing creative tools. If you have any questions about going digital, check out the site and the blog for more information. So head on over to http://www.prairiefairydesigns.com/ and check it out!

So would you like to see what the team came up with?  Here goes

Well, I hope that's given you some ideas.  The challenge will close at midnight BST (British Summer Time) on 18th July 2010 and the rules are

DT Call now closed

Thankyou to everyone who has entered.  We will be busy looking at your blogs over the weekend and will aim to announce the winners on Monday.

New DT member and a call for some more!

As I mentioned in an earlier post, one of our DT members, the wonderful Viv, has decided to step down to concentrate on all things pink (only joking).  I'm still really sad that Viv is going, but happy to announce that we have a new member, Kym.  Please take a look at her blog and give her a warm welcome.

I've also decided to expand our team slightly and am putting out a call for 3 new Design Team members.  All members will need to be able to make one card fortnightly for the regular challenge and to comment on the entrants as much as possible.  The fortnightly challenge will be based on a theme (xmas, colour combo, etc.) or a sketch and sometimes we are provided with images from the sponsor to use.

Anyone interested should leave a comment on this post with a link to your entry. Remember we're interested in boys/mens cards. The closing date for entries is midnight Friday 2nd July 2010.  I'll announce the winners on Monday 5th July and the first card will be due Monday 19th July.

So, good luck everyone. I can't wait to see the responses and even if your not entering, please spread the word around. Thanks so much.
